New analysis of Rosalind Franklin’s notebooks and X-ray work indicates she recognized DNA’s helix structure before James Watson and Francis Crick received credit. The researchers found Franklin saw the structure in Photo 49 and recorded it before producing Photo 51, which was shown to Watson and Crick without her consent.
