A bee bit my bottom

The room was full of the smartest comedy writers around, all trying to find something clever and perfect for Homer, like a gem. Conan, for reasons he can't explain, pitched a line in Homer's voice: a bee bit my bottom, and now my bottom's big. People laughed, but also pointed out it was too stupid.

He was so delighted by it that he pitched it repeatedly, then stood up and acted it out, bending over and sticking out his butt. A bee stings, but Homer would say bit, and Conan liked the B, B, B alliteration.

The line ended up in the script. The animators gave Homer one cheek that was very big, visibly swollen.
