A bill narrates its own fate
He was written by the staff of a member of Congress, with some help from lobbyists and the Office of Legislative Counsel. Then he was dropped in the hopper and given a number, and to a committee he goes.
A young shaver asks what happens in committee. He gets read, he gets talked about, and there are hearings. If he is super lucky, he gets reported out, which means he will be killed or sent to the whole House for debate after the Rules Committee, of course.
The debate drags on. He might get suspended in the Rules Committee and over-debated until none of it matters anymore, and the post office gets named after Frankie the third. Hooray, Frank. We are so glad you got your vote.
