Operation Lab 9

Puharich had brought Uri Geller from Israel to his estate in Ossining, New York, where he launched Operation Lab 9 with another Faraday cage. Through Geller, a different voice came, calling itself Spectra, a super intelligence aboard a spacecraft 53,000 light years away. It was the Nine under a new name, with new instructions.

Roddenberry arrives

The guest list at Lab 9 grew to include scientists from SRI, wealthy elites, politicians, and European nobility who used fake names. One of the wealthy visitors, British businessman John Whitmore, was so impressed that he wanted to make a movie about the Nine, so they brought in Roddenberry.

Years later, Deep Space Nine had a character named Vinod, in an episode about a cult leader protected by a small inner circle.

The inner circle

Puharich had an inner circle of his own, and it kept receiving instructions from the Nine: prepare humanity, get the right people in place, the transformation is coming.

How did Star Trek come back after cancellation?

NBC canceled Star Trek in 1969 after three seasons. Syndicated reruns then built a large fan base over the following years. The first Star Trek fan convention, held in New York in 1972, drew thousands of attendees. Paramount released Star Trek: The Motion Picture in December 1979.
