Anthropic's $6 Billion Month Shows AI Now Competes With Labor Budgets
In a 28-day February, it topped the yearly sales of Databricks and Snowflake combined.

All-In with Chamath, Jason, Sacks & Friedberg · Iran War, Oil Shock, Off Ramps, AI's Revenue Explosion and PR NightmareAnthropic collected about $6 billion in revenue in February alone, more than Databricks and Snowflake make combined in a whole year.
Brad Gerstner, an investor in both Anthropic and OpenAI, said the reason is that newer models and coding agents such as Claude Code are no longer competing for corporate technology budgets. They are competing with labor budgets.
Databricks and Snowflake, two of the most successful software companies, took 12 years to build their combined yearly revenue, which is still less than that February total.
The monthly haul puts Anthropic at a $14 billion revenue run rate, after growing from one billion dollars to fourteen billion dollars in fourteen months, about 12 times in a year. Rival OpenAI was at a $20 billion annualized run rate, after growing from two billion dollars to twenty billion dollars across two years.
Questions people ask
What does a $14 billion run rate mean?
It means the company brought in enough in one month that, if it kept doing that all year, it would collect $14 billion. It does not guarantee the pace will continue. Investors use run rates to compare fast-growing startups that do not yet have a full year at the new size.
What do Databricks and Snowflake do?
They sell cloud software that helps large companies store, organize, and analyze huge amounts of data. Snowflake went public in 2020, while Databricks has stayed private. Both are widely viewed as two of the most successful enterprise software businesses of the past decade.
What is a coding agent?
It is an AI tool that can write, edit, and run software code from a plain-language request. Examples include Claude Code and Codex. Coding agents are among the drivers Gerstner cites for the recent revenue surge.
