More than half of TourRadar's bookings go to developing countries.

Travis Pittman, who started the booking platform for multi-day guided tours and now runs it, said about 55% of its bookings are for places like Vietnam, Morocco, and Tanzania, not just Barcelona and Paris.

Pittman described what the company sells as "in off the beaten path places." Pittman said humans, not AI, will be the ones "telling stories and giving you a good time."

Sahara Rose DeBoer, founder of the Travel Coach Network, which partnered with TourRadar, said there is "an underlying desire to visit places that are so different from us."

Questions people ask

What do travelers commonly see in Vietnam, Morocco, and Tanzania?

As general background, not from the interview, visitors in Vietnam often visit cities, markets, and river areas. In Morocco, common stops include old city centers, desert camps, and mountain towns. In Tanzania, many itineraries combine wildlife viewing with town visits and coastal stays.

What counts as adventure travel?

It usually means a trip that is active, outdoors, and includes time with local people. That can include hiking, biking, snorkeling, or wildlife viewing, plus meals and markets with guides who explain what visitors are seeing.

How should first-time visitors think about safety?

Safety was not discussed in the interview. TourRadar says it monitors tour experiences closely because travelers invest time and money to travel far. Travelers should still check government guidance, vaccines, and insurance before they book.
