Profitec RIDE Uses Two Boilers to Brew and Steam Together

The maker claims cappuccino-ready in 10 to 12 minutes from cold; one owner quoted on the page reports 13 minutes to full heat.

The Profitec RIDE, the home espresso machine described by retailer Clive Coffee, is presented as a way to cut the morning wait with two boilers instead of one.

On a standard single-boiler machine, brewing and steaming happen in stages. You pull the espresso shot, then wait while the same boiler climbs to steam temperature for milk.

The RIDE splits the jobs. A 0.75-liter boiler holds brewing water, while a separate 1-liter boiler holds steam water, and each has its own temperature control.

The retailer says the difference is simultaneous heating. It says many 110-volt machines heat boilers sequentially, while the RIDE heats both at once in what its specifications call fast heat-up mode.

Clive Coffee writes that this supports Profitec's claim of a “cappuccino-ready time of 10–12 minutes from a cold start.” One owner, DJM, reports “full water and steam heat in 13 minutes.”

Clive Coffee says many shoppers are trading up from simpler machines after frustration with temperature surfing and delays when switching from coffee to steam.

A small panel on the front reports heat for the coffee side, heat for the steam side, and how long the pour has run. Both heat settings are changed there, which is also where the daily start time is set.

The retailer says that combination makes back-to-back cappuccinos effortless for households that make multiple milk drinks. Brew and steam can run together, rather than one after the other.

Questions people ask

How is a dual boiler different from a heat-exchanger machine?

A heat-exchanger machine uses one large steam-temperature boiler and passes brew water through a tube inside it. Clive Coffee says the RIDE offers true simultaneous brewing and steaming, PID-controlled temperature, and preinfusion options that those machines lack.

Why do brewing and steaming need different temperatures?

Espresso brewing uses water below boiling, while steaming needs hotter water to make pressure for frothing milk. The RIDE keeps the two jobs in separate boilers, listed at 0.75 liters for brew and 1.0 liters for steam.

What are the power ratings for heating both boilers at once?

The listed specifications give 800 watts for each boiler, 1,700 watts maximum, with a standard 15-amp plug. The 10 to 12 minute time is listed for fast heat-up mode, when the specifications say the boilers heat simultaneously.
