The Nine Hopi Signs Were Matched to History After the Fact
A real teaching about balance became a detailed list of railroads, highways, and oil spills only after those things existed.

The Why Files · The Last Sign: 3I/ATLAS and the Hopi Blue StarThe nine signs look like an ancient countdown, and that is the surprise. They were fitted to modern history after the events happened.
The Hopi, a Native American people in Arizona, do hold traditional teachings about balance and consequences. Outsiders have seen and photographed dark stone tablets for over a hundred years, and elders say they are still waiting for a missing corner to return.
In 2017, Tommy Banyacya, the son of Hopi interpreter Thomas Banyacya, explained what that teaching meant. His father was raised speaking Hopi as a first language and learned English through a Bible, which led him to choose the term prophecy. Tommy said it was really a warning about cause and effect when people fall out of balance, not a fixed calendar of inventions.
The checklist reads differently. White men who strike enemies with thunder become European settlers with guns. Spinning wheels filled with voices become the more than 400,000 settlers who rolled west in covered wagons. A horned beast like a buffalo becomes longhorn cattle, which replaced some 30 million slaughtered buffalo.
Iron snakes become nearly 200,000 miles of railroad track laid by 1900. A spider web becomes more than 5 million miles of telegraph, telephone, and power wire. Rivers of stone become highways, black seas become major oil spills, and long-haired youth become 1960s hippies who visited Hopi villages until the tribal council banned them.
Historian Armin Geertz traced recorded Hopi predictions to the eighteen-thirties. He discovered that particular details about wire webs, atomic bombs, and moon landings appeared in records only after those technologies existed. No one has located the clergyman said to have given an elder named White Feather a ride on a desert highway in 1958, and the nine-sign list did not appear in print until a 1980 book about earth changes, when the first eight signs had already occurred.
Questions people ask
Does that mean there is no real Hopi prophecy at all?
No. The core Hopi teaching about balance and consequences is real, and so are the stone tablets. Only the specific nine-sign list of modern inventions is not ancient.
What did Thomas Banyacya actually say at the United Nations?
He addressed the General Assembly on December 10, 1992, and warned of floods and storms. A severe storm hit New York the next morning, flooding highways and shutting down the subways, but there is no official record that the U.N. building itself flooded.
What is supposed to be the ninth sign?
Different versions point to a dwelling in the sky that falls to Earth or to a blue star. The nine-sign list first appeared in print in 1980, and the blue star reading has been tied to a comet seen in 2007 and to an object seen in 2025.
