Jub jub named the iguana

Before that, Conan had been saying Jub jub constantly around the office. He had a fictitious product called Jub jub, and he built a whole religion around the phrase. It annoyed everybody all the time.

Then the writers were working on an episode for Marge's sisters, Patty and Selma, who are voiced by Julie Kavner. One of them had a pet iguana, and at one point the script needed the iguana's name. Al Jean asked the room, and everyone started thinking. Conan, in a kind of spasm, answered Jub jub. Al Jean went with it.

Real Simpsons fanatics still walk up to Conan and say Jub jub. Throwaway jokes like that can slip into the room's vocabulary and last far longer than anyone planned.
